Posted this pretty much everywhere else. I figured why not liven up this section and share with you folks:

I wanted to build something light, fast, and with minimal fuss for my Fiancee. My fiancee has two titanium rods holding her back together thanks to corrective surgery when she was younger. Given that, she has a like for titanium. Her engagement ring, for example, is titanium. Well, it was only natural that this build be Titanium themed or colored in some way.

This build was inspired by the complete overhaul ion upgrade show of death on TechPB. I liked where Mike went with his build, and while a little pricey, my efficiency test video shows me that it's worth it.

I started with a used red ion I got for $60:

I added the following parts:

Internals:

Virtue Ion OLED Board (with Grips)
Virtue Ion Laser Eyes
Virtue Ion QEV
Virtue Ion EZ On Power Button
TechT L7v2 Bolt
Trinity Ion Screw Kit
Ninja 90 Degree Swivel Macroline Fitting X2
Smart Parts Ion XE Titanium Silver Conversion Kit

Externals:

CP 1-Piece Barrel - .685 14" Dust Pewter
CP Pro Mini On/Off ASA Dust Pewter
CP Pro Mini Rail Dust Pewter
CP Ion Sling Blade Trigger Dust Pewter
CP Clamping Feedneck Dust Pewter
CP Shorty Style Regulator 0-500PSI Dust Pewter
CP Air Pressure Gauge 0-300PSI

Accessories:

Ninja Carbon Fiber N2 Tank - 68/4500
Smart Parts Exoskin Tank Cover - 68ci
Dye Rotor 09 Loader - Grey

And that lead me to how she looks today:

Mike mentioned ionowners.com in his upgrade video and it has been highly educational! ZDSPB has also been a huge help in understanding a marker I've never owned or played with before.

Here's a video featuring TechPB's build: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zrEXr_k170

I'm very sure if Santa drops Sacks of unmarked bills down my chimney this Christmas, I'm building one for me, except replace all the silver and dust pewter with Red.

If you need any tech help with the Ion, we have a few Smart Part's tech's on the team. (Nick, Scott, Shields, Wolfy) And some Master Tech's also. (JR, Dustin and myself)

HAH! Showing her that efficiency video made her want to play more. She's typically a 1 pod a day player, but now if she wanted to, she can bring down the rain, LOL!

I've got a 6+8+1 pod pack (14) pods I use with the Double Trouble. That Ion doesn't run out of air until about the 15th pod. She can outshoot my heavy harness, LOL.

Heheh, the stock frame doesn't bother me too much. It's comfortable and gets the job done. Although, due to the condition of the stock ion, the hole with the trigger pre-travel adjustment is rusted out and I'm pretty sure it's stripped, as I can adjust the CP screw and that trigger goes nowhere. I may keep an eye out for another stock grip frame.

Will definitely keep it in mind! I've learned a few good lessons with it though: Don't put 500 PSI worth of pressure through it, the gauge, etc. Despite the complexity of the design (Lots of internal hoses) it's actually very simple when you step back and take a look at the whole picture and how each part interacts with it.

Free Lance had to walk sideways as his hard on got in the way.

I actually went and priced out this project again, since I really want one for me, lol. Nobody has Red Ion XE's in stock. I managed to find a stock black ion and a red XE conversion kit, and added up it actually comes out cheaper. I may continue combing the used market on several message boards. I got lucky with my first used Ion. $60 from a hunter that used to ref at On Target who just burnt out on paintball. He more or less said "Pick a number, I don't care, take it" and I felt bad handing him $50 as he also threw in a VL Eggy and an out of date 70/3000 boat anchor (It's heavy!) so I gave him $60, everything in my wallet at the time. He was happy, I was happy.

Those are some of the nicest kinds of deals Coop. Never feel bad lowballing, that is Karma evening out your universe. At some point you have bit a shit sandwich, look at this as the cosmic coke that washes away the taste.

That is a very nice gun. JR should be back up and powder coating by the beginning of the year. You could try contacting SP direct for a replacement gripframe due to the stripped out adjustor. Or throw out a WTB over on PBN for a frame. With all the aftermarket frames and parts, I am sure there are a few floating around, much like AK parts.
